Ireland Collegiate is the official esports competition for Irish universities and colleges. Catering for the 17 institutions across the island of Ireland, our community includes +1,000 students and averages +70 teams competing each academic year.
8 Week Competition
The formats vary by title from single elimination to swiss round, in every case over an 8 week period to determine the top two teams and players in each title.
Our Creator team broadcast the game of the round for each game title daily, simulcast across Twitch, YouTube and X.
LAN Finals!
Introduced for the first time ever in the 2023/24 Series. The finalists decend on Dogpatch Labs in Dublin for a weekend is finals action.
Not only are our finals weekends broadcast live, tickets are available for supporters to come along and cheer for their University or College.
All-Ireland Champs
On the way through the series each University and College collect points from their first team's results. These points are added up across each game title each week to determine their place on the Collegiate Challenge leaderboard.
We then add in the bonus points on offer across each finals weekend to determine our finalists. The institution that finishes top has the right to host the final.
Students & Alumni
Up until 2022 we never maintained contact with those that graduated or simply stopped playing. It's just not good enough.
So, we've launched the Ireland Collegiate Alumni Guild. In addition to the free monthly newsletter we're building a membership programme full of benefits.
Those that stop playing are automatically added into the community. We're also welcoming Irish students that have graduated who have since found an interest in esports.
Over The Years
Ireland's collegiate esports history has seen responsibility change hands three times now. ICE as they were known initially led the charge getting it up and running. Unfortunately they closed their doors in 2021.
The team behind GamerFest, know as Legion Media at the time, picked up the batten and revived the series as Legion Collegiate for the 21/22 academic year. As the pandemic restrictions lifted they found themselves split with restarting GamerFest - enter Nativz Gaming.
Nativz Takes The Reigns
In September 2022 a joint announcement was released confirming a change in hands from Legion Collegiate to Nativz Gaming securing the future of the series.
Initially relaunched as Nativz Collegiate, the first year was all about ensure a smooth transition for the community. This would have been extremely tough to achieve if it wasn't for the operational team moving to Nativz too.
It was a year later in September 2022 that the series was rebranded as the Ireland Esports Collegiate Series. The name it carries today.
